What’s the problem?
Women in rural areas deserve excellent healthcare.
People living and working in rural areas are required to be inherently innovative in the way they approach their lives.
Distance should no longer be a barrier to accessing quality healthcare, a limiting factor in opportunities, or a barrier to investment.
As a clinician working with rural women in a rural hospital, everyday I am faced with the reality of the implications of rural healthcare.
And I’m also surrounded by clinicians, patients, families, and friends alike who love living in the bush.
Because once you’ve lived in the country, you realise how lucky you are.
For those of us out in the bush, the opportunities are abundant. But the outcomes are not equitable with our friends in metro areas.
Rural areas are hubs of innovation, creativity, and collegiality. So why is moving rurally still seen as a limiting factor for growth and opportunities?
And there’s nothing like going down to the shops for some groceries and knowing you’re going to bump into every man and his dog.
